Culinary Internship/Career Readiness Class (12th)

In this class, we examine what it takes to prepare for, find, apply, and get hired at a job in the food service industry.

There are many different positions available in this industry

We will feature Guest Speakers from the industry, to talk about a variety of business subjects.

Some of those jobs are in the kitchen (the back of the house), and many others are out with the customers in the "front of the house"

Students will learn about the various job positions available in a restaurant, and become develop the skills needed to work successfully in all of those positions.

Some of the things that we will learn about in this class include:


  • Job duties and necessary skills for all possible job positions in a restaurant

  • How to write an effective resume, and how to update.

  • How to be successful in a job interview, we will rehearse interviewing.

  • How job benefits work- health insurance and 401k contributions

  • How to understand what you see on your check stub- what are these taxes?

  • How to find available jobs, and how to apply for them.

  • What professional organizations are related to the restaurant industry

  • Harassment in the workplace- how to spot it, avoid doing it, and report it.

  • Guest Speakers from the food and hospitality business.
