In this class, we learn and do what it takes to prepare for, find, apply, and get hired at a job in the food service and hospitality industry.
At the beginning of the senior year, students will be responsible for applying to and interviewing for a job position to serve as their Internship. Some of those jobs are in the kitchen (the back of the house), and many others are out with the customers in the "front of the house"
The minimum a student must work each week is 4 hours (about 1 shift), up to the maximum allowed by law for a student under 18 years old (20 hours). As long as the minimum requirement is met, the schedule and availability are between you and the business. While we spend time looking at different possible workplace scenarios and how to handle them in class, Mr. Wood is always available to give advice to students who have questions about how to handle challenging situations at work. Contact him through Remind and/or email, or speak in person.
Students are able to start forming a network of business contacts for the future.
