At Desert Aid Services, our Disaster Relief Program is dedicated to supporting unhoused and vulnerable populations before, during, and after emergencies. Disasters—whether natural events like storms, floods, or extreme heat, or a human-made crises—can leave people without food, shelter, medical care, or access to vital resources. Our mission is to ensure that those most at risk are never left behind, providing compassionate care, guidance, and essential supplies at every stage.
Before a Disaster:
Preparation saves lives! We work directly with unhoused individuals and vulnerable community members to educate them about potential hazards and help them prepare for emergencies. This includes distributing supplies such as water, food, blankets, hygiene items, and first aid kits, as well as sharing critical information about shelters, safe spaces, and evacuation routes. By preparing ahead of time, we empower people to stay safe and make informed decisions during a crisis.
During a Disaster:
When emergencies strike, our teams go straight to the streets, shelters, and other vulnerable areas to provide immediate support. We offer medical care, emergency supplies, and hands-on guidance to help individuals navigate available resources. Our outreach ensures that unhoused people—who are often overlooked in disaster planning—receive the care and protection they need.
After a Disaster:
Recovery is a critical step, especially for those without stable homes or support networks. We continue assisting unhoused and vulnerable individuals by providing additional supplies, medical attention, and connections to long-term resources like housing, food programs, and mental health services. Our focus is on helping people regain stability, rebuild their lives, and recover safely, with dignity and respect.
Our Team:
Our team brings both compassion and expertise to disaster response. Every member is trained in FEMA ICS and HazMat awareness, ensuring a safe and organized response. Additionally, we have team members with formal education and experience in emergency management.
With this combination of practical experience and hands-on training, we are prepared to respond and lead effectively and safely while keeping the needs of unhoused and vulnerable populations at the forefront.
