Word of the Week

Students work hard to show good character at Dover-Eyota. Each week a word is announced over the PA system, along with its definition. During the week teachers do activities with their students to help them understand the meaning of the word of the week and why it's important to build their character. This year we will also be sending activity ideas home for you to try with your kids. Students then are recognized for using the word of the week in their conduct around the school. Those students caught displaying the word of the week in their actions the most that week have their picture taken and displayed on the bulletin board as behavior role models.

We follow the CASEL framework for social emotional learning. CASEL stands for Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning. Here is a link to the CASEL website if you're interested in learning more, https://casel.org/

Each word will be posted for one week starting the second week of school. Once all words have been posted, the cycle starts over. Here is a link to the Dover - Eyota Word of the Week 2023-2024
