Spagnoli House demonstrates the traits and characteristics that DeSales men strive to be, emphasizing faith, brotherhood, and tradition. Spagnoli House’s new mascot is the Samurai, which symbolizes strength, coordination, and dominance. In this article I’ll talk about Blessed Baptist Spagnoli of Mantua, (who the house is named after), the achievements Spagnoli House has accomplished, and what makes Spagnoli House special.
Blessed Baptist Spagnoli of Mantua was a Carmilite priest born in the 15th century in Italy. He is well-known for being an influential poet during the Renaissance, talking about the sanctity of the human life. He was even quoted in the Shaekspeare play, "Love's Labour's Lost". In his religious life, he was elected as the Carmelite leader in 1513 after being a Carmelite for around 50 years. His feast day is celebrated on April 17, the day he was born in 1447.
The Spagnoli Samurai have achieved many things together as a house, both in athletics and academics. Here is how they performed in the house cup last year…

4th place in service (2,850 points)
6th place in special spirit (2,095 points)
8th place in spirit (1,989 points)
9th place in intramurals (588 points)
Overall, last year they finished 8th place in the House Cup last year, with a total count of 15,992 points. Looking back into their history, Spagnoli House has won the Desales Intramural Basketball League (DIBL) only once, in 2016. The Samurai have only won the House Cup once before, in 2017
