To use digital technologies to mediate and embed curricular changes in Physical Education at secondary level and primary level to implement ‘the new Physical Literacy PDST publications and digital resources;To develop the efficacy of Department Supports, in particular the Digital Learning Framework for Schools (two of cluster schools are currently piloting) in supporting the use of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment.
This will further consolidate skills and expertise developed in the two DLF schools 2017-2018 and which can be shared with all other schools in the cluster. Innovation between teachers and schools which are all in the same parish - yet schools are located in two different counties.
We are particularly excited about the possibility of our local Secondary School working with its feeder Primary Schools.
Add to the educational experience of all learners and involve learners in their own learning through the use of digital recording of their movement skills, peer assessment and further assessment techniques in ePortfolios. This project will address the increasing problem of physical inactivity in children.
Teachers will also gain valuable opportunities in the area of Professional Development in order to benefit their own teaching practice.Teachers will be assisted in the development of the use of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment in their own school and the wider system through peer interaction.
Collaboration between schools and third level – Sligo IT Joanne Regan lecturer in Health and Exercise Sciences supported the project application providing the cluster with the latest research on Health and Exercise in Irish children.
Collaboration between schools and industry - our iPad supplier Compub is also a sponsor of technology for Munster Rugby. Compub hosted an evening in the Munster Rugby Academy and showed us how Munster how they use video analysis on match day and in preparation for games.
To enable key policy initiatives such as The STEM Action Plan 2017-2019;
Develop school policies and practice of Bring Your Own Device as two of the cluster primary schools (Brusna NS & St Colman’s NS) have began to introduce this as part of the Digital Learning Framework.
