DON CARLOS VILLAGE ES
LEARNING RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
(NENE AT TOTOY)
The project sought to address absenteeism in school. When students are not in attendance, they miss essential instruction, which often times cannot be replicated. There were 70 pupils who were identified as pupils at risk of dropping out in Don Carlos Village Elementary School. This study describes the absenteeism through Project NeToy. Through an interview process and a survey, the sought to “hear the reasons” (Creswell, 2007, p. 40) of those pupils identified as Sagip NeToy, along with the voices of their parents and/or guardians.
The purpose of this project was to identify the risk factors that have the greatest degree of association with absenteeism of students that will result to dropping out in Don Carlos Village Elementary School. The school will collect and examine data regarding policies and programs that are designed to improve student attendance to provide school boards and administrators with evidence of their effectiveness.
In addition, the project used descriptive method and the findings point to the importance of parents and guardians in motivating their children to come to school regularly. Recommendations for school leaders and teachers are to conduct a program or interventions to decrease dropout.
Furthermore, the intervention program should be in accordance with the pupils needs and relevant to the programs of the school in decreasing dropout rate.
In conclusion, it was found out that the CI Program was effective in reducing habitual absenteeism among pupils; it is therefore recommended that the CI Program may run through the process.
For the current CI clientele, we will continue to monitor their progress as they will be promoted to the next grade level in SY 2020-2021.
