The Project PABASA entails the practice of compassionately assisting and supporting struggling readers with the dedicated guidance of a teacher, nurturing them until they achieve proficiency in reading.
This innovation aims to address the learners’ performance in oral reading, silent reading, and reading/listening comprehension. · It provides teachers with guidance in establishing a student's foundational skills, specifically those that may contribute to low performance on reading comprehension assessments. Also, learners especially under the frustration level of reading were equipped of excellent reading skills.
The assessments that were used in this innovation aim to find the student’s independent instructional and frustration levels.
The target learners are the in Grade 7 to 12 who exhibit reading difficulties and those who require support and intervention to move beyond the frustration level and develop proficient reading skills.
