Project NUMERO
Nurturing Mathematical Excellence through Remediation Opportunities
The Project NUMERO is a program which aims to make every learner a numerate. This tests the learner’s skills on basic fundamental operation such as ability to add, multiply, subtract and divide numbers.
This innovation was developed to determine the numerates, nearly-numerates, and non-numerates learners in JHS and SHS. It begins with the administration of pre-test to learners testing their ability to add, multiply, subtract and divide numbers within a time limit.
If the learners falls under the nearly and non-numerate bracket, she/he will undergo a remediation program where teachers have to use variety of strategies and remediation program to capacitate them in the basic fundamental operations as well as problem solving.
The target learners are in Grade 7 to 12 who exhibit a non-numerate level of proficiency in basic mathematical operations and demonstrate challenges in fundamental numeracy skills within the specified grade range.
