San Jose Patag Elementary School is a complete elementary school serving Kinder to Grade 6 levels. It has a total land area of 4,000 square meters, that serves as learning ground for 1,288 enrollees.
According to Mrs. Dalaida Datiles, a 77 year old early resident of this barangay and daughter of the late famous poet and writer Jose Hermogenes aka "Joseng Batute", this barangay is known to be what it is now more than a hundred years ago. As she recalled, it was thickly forested land area with narrowed and rough roads and trails, where only few "karatillas" room around as the main means of transportation at that time.
Some of the well-known families who were early-settlers of this place were Evangelistas, Gravadors, Nepomucenos, Fernandos, Sarmientos, Geners, De Veras, Franciscos, Silvestres, and Manahans. They were the early dwellers of the place until the present time, their descendants and the generations still resides and live here.
Farming is the primary source of livelihood of the people. This place endowed with beautiful sceneries, with rivers, streams and creeks with clear, crystal water, were women of the barrio used to washed clothes, were children swim and play and where elder go fishing.
"Bayanihan" was so lively and active during those early years. The majority of the people were Catholic even at the present time.
In 1965, American investors put up a huge farm in the barrio, the well-known ARDOR ACRES Breeding and Farm. It was a 13 hectare land that gave many employments to the people. It was also the first time when electricity reached the barrio.
Because of the employment, progress and peace at that time brought about by the establishment of the said farm that offered many job opportunities, people had peace of mind and was able to raise their family, thus the San Jose Patag Elementary School was established.
As to geography, San Jose Patag Elementary School is located at Sitio Centro, San Jose Patag, Santa Maria, Bulacan, which is 500m away from the highway. From Poblacion, it is 2.3 kilometers away and 21.7 kilometers away from the Divisions Office. Pupils can reach the school by foot o by all means of transportations. There is no incident of crimes reported for the past three years. Storm, typhoon, tropical depression and flood were the incidence of natural hazards in the last three years. Petty crime such as theft is not rampant in the school. CCTV cameras were installed, focused in the school area for security purposes.
The institution's prime advocacy is to produce functional, literate and morally upright learners. To date, the school, as headed by the principal, has 4 pre-school teachers, 32 grade school teachers, a utility worker, school guard and 2 office personnel.
