Clean, Green, Organized School
Motivated with the desire to create a huge positive impact on the students’ health and academic performance, teachers’ effectiveness as well as the school’s operational expenses, the Clean Green and Organized (CGO) Program is integrated and observed.
While the school uphold to its thrust that a Clean Green and Organized surroundings can make a significant effects on students’ achievement and school’s progress, the CGO program of the school now aims to be team-oriented and outcome-driven. More so, it is also supported by conducting thorough instruction, monitoring and evaluation as manifested on the proposed plan.
Existing projects were identified and placed accordingly under each component and
implementing such can make possible solutions:
A. Clean
· Being clean not only physically but mentally and spiritually
· Believed that Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Clean Surroundings/Workplace
Promoting “Tapat Mo, Linis Mo” among teachers and students for maintaining clean classroom and surroundings
Guidance Health Program
Counselling for students found to have problems
B. Green
· Involves everyone in solving ecological issues, safeguarding our environment, preparing the school for any natural disaster/adversity
Re-launching of Gulayan sa Paaralan (Urban Gardening)
Feeding Program
C. Organized
· An organized community is paramount to a workplace of effectiveness and efficiency.
Promoting awareness of 5’s.
Setting-up of Citizens Charter for easy access.
School-Based Management.
Requirements for this program are established through:
a. Concept Knowledge
-wide dissemination and orientation of the concept/ knowledge of the program is needed to put everything into action.
-also serves as point of direction to begin the program.
b. Faculty/Student Involvement
-teachers and students participation take a big role on the implementation of this program. They are to be well-aware of the matter so as to facilitate the series of action necessary to achieve the goal of the program.
c. Physical Facilities
-well-structured area, complete/adequate materials resources to facilitate and materialize a given project.
Current Analysis
Based on our School-Based Management (SIP) one of the Priority Improvement Areas of the school is a Child-Friendly School and where the Clean Green and Organized (CGO) is under this indicator. During the process of making the SIP for the SY 2016-2017 which started last January of 2016, the status of CGO of the school then did not meet acceptable standard or very poor. But at present based from our assessment there is a big improvement in our CGO status, we are now approaching the very satisfactory level.
The school now is well-structured and well-ventilated. Facilities, equipments and furnitures are clean, free from obstructions and with structural provisions for emergency purposes. There is an updated and functional programs on Child Protection Policy and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. Things are consistently placed in order. In addition information /memos displayed are updated. The project Gulayan sa Paaralan is used for nutritional program.
The big improvement in the CGO shows improvement in school’s internal stakeholders. Details of which are the following:
· There is an increase of 37.5% in the Child-Friendly School Survey. That is from 24 points last SY 2015-2016 (which classified the school as a Not Child-Friendly School) to 33 points as of December 2016 which categories Nangka High School as an Outstanding Child-Friendly School.
· Year end report on SY 2015-2016 stated the average percentage of attendance was 60.17%, while this SY 2016-17 as of December, the average percentage of attendance is 89.0%, which shows an increase of 28.83%.
