Nangka High School, the ninth secondary school along Kabayani Road Nangka Marikina City was opened to public on June 5, 2006. This school which faces the lush valley of Quezon City and the famous Marikina River was inaugurated by Hon. Maria Lourdes C. Fernando on June 2, 2006. Its feeder schools are the Nangka Elementary School and the H. Bautista Elementary School.

During its first year of operation, Nangka High School opened complete secondary education in order to cater the needs of the community. And was temporarily made an annex of Marikina High School with twenty-six contractual teachers. But on February 6, 2007 it became an independent school through the support of NCR Director Teresita G. Domalanta. For SY 2009-2010, the school has thirty-nine (39) regular-permanent teachers, seventeen (17) contractual teachers, five (5) administrative staff and six (6) volunteers.

Mr. Albert B. Mutia, the school principal with his utmost dedication and hardwork has continuously managed the school since its opening until then that Mrs. Lagrimas Garcia, coupled with her expertise in leadership and management became the principal in 2010. In 2012, the school welcomed a very humble yet approachable Officer-In-Charge, Mr. Freddie D. Viernes.

On the academic year 2013 - 2016, the school has 1,911 students, 78 regular-permanent teachers 8 administrative staff and two (3) volunteers, headed by a soft-spoken Mr. Clay A. Balgua who assumed the role of school head last July 2013.

Meanwhile, during the school year 2016-2018, an energetic, dynamic and untiring, Mr. Edgardo L. Nieto led NHS as the school principal. He was known by his educational principle "by force I want you to LEARN, by force I want you to change your LIFE. And it's only through QUALITY EDUCATION".

As retirement has come for Mr. Nieto then the hardworking Department Head of Mathematics Ms. Melody F. Grimaldo served as the OIC to the Office of the Principal. Comes 2019 when the Most Outstanding Supervisor in Filipino of the SDO- Marikina Mr. Galcoso Alburo commenced to take over the Office of the Principal.

At present, the Man of Action, the promising Mr. Hadji M. Tejada, oath into office as the new Officer In-charge Office of the Principal. His dedication, passion and data-based decision making towards the school's development, learners, teachers and stakeholders are his topmost priority as management and leadership is concerned. He is known by his leadership principle "Mahina Pag Nag-iisa, Malakas Pag Sama-sama".
