Brigada Eskwela is a yearly event that signals the opening of the school year. After more than two years of distance learning, the government has eased the quarantine protocols and allowed for a face to face opening of schools. Thus, the theme “Brigada Eskwela Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral” challenged everyone to prepare the schools wherein the students could enjoy learning without sacrificing their health since COVID 19 has not yet been fully eliminated.
Nangka Elementary School, in leadership of the School Head, teaching and non-teaching staffs, launched Brigada Eskwela 2022 through a kick-off parade in nearby areas of Barangay Nangka. Parents, learners and other stakeholders from public and private sectors joined the activity. A short program was then followed.
The spirit of volunteerism was evident during the whole season of Brigada Eskwela. Volunteers from different associations, individual or group, expressed their desire to help and prepare the school for the opening of the face-to-face classes. A total of 7,504 individuals rendered their service through disinfection, clean-up, renovation, installation and painting. Nangka Elementary School was confident that its building and facilities were prepared for its 3,800 pupils by August 22. Some learners benefitted from tutorial, hair cutting, and medical and dental services which were provided by some public and private associations. Teaching and non-teaching personnel also enjoyed free eye check up services.
Nangka Elementary School was aknowledged as 1st place in Brigada Eskwela implemention for SY 2020-2021.
The school was also blessed for having kind-hearted stakeholders who selflessly helped the school by giving in-kind donations based on the needs of the beneficiaries – the learners. Thousands of donations were collected such as school supplies, reading and activity books, vitamins and other medicine, cleaning and disinfecting materials, beauty products for teachers, hygiene and sanitation kits, electric fans, snacks and food packs for volunteers, medical equipment, load cards for online tutorial program, and a lot more. A total of = Php. 3,862,016.52 was generated through in-kind donations which could benefit numerous learners, teachers and other volunteered stakeholders.
The number of stakeholders participated in this year’s Brigada Eskwela and the amount generated through service, in-kind and cash donations amounting to Php 6,160,429.02 has increased by 122.5% from previous year of Php 2,768,743.15.
