LET'S UNDERSTAND:
Some chemical changes that take place in matter bring about problems our environment.
Here are some examples of effects on changes brought by nature.
Ozone layer helps protect life from harmful ultraviolet radiation. Ozone depletion occurs when chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which are found in the materials used in refrigerants and aerosol spray are release into atmosphere causing chemical reaction that destroy the ozone molecules.
It is the gradual increase in Earth’s average surface temperature due to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases like methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, etc
Refers to any form of precipitation that contains a large amount of acid. When people burn fossil fuels, Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the atmosphere.
The main contributors of Land Pollution includes litter, waste, urbanization, construction, mining, extraction and agriculture (kaingin)
The burning of fossil fuel such as coal and gasoline releases harmful chemicals and gases such as carbon dioxide and Sulphur dioxide into the air that cause air pollution.
It is the contamination of bodies of water, usually because of human activities, toxic substances from farm, towns and factories causing water pollution.
Many environmental problems are caused by human activities. That is why we are responsible for finding solutions to these problems. Here are some ways to lessen and prevent these environmental problems.
• Plant trees.
• Go paperless at home and in the office.
• Buy recycled products and then recycle them.
• Avoid burning leaves, trash, and other materials.
• Turn off the lights when not in use.
