INCREASING CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING AND PERFORMANCE LEVEL OF STUDENTS IN MAPEH THROUGH FEEDING PROGRAM
AND LEARNING BY DOING ACTIVITIES
ABSTRACT
This action research aimed to implement feeding program and the use of outdoor activities to increase the mastery level of the learners in sports particularly in Badminton and Volleyball of Grade 8 students of the Lallo National High School for the S.Y. 2016 -2017. Respondents of this study were the wasted and severely wasted learners based on the pre-PFT result.
The researcher used the purposive sampling and the normative-documentary survey design. Simple frequency distribution and t- test for correlated means were the statistical tools used to analyzed and interpret the gathered data.
Classes in MAPEH particularly in sports were conducted in the gymnasium of the school for better demonstration of the skills and for the respondents to have a wide space for their skills assessment. While the researcher having this outdoor activities, the respondents also were fed every Tuesday and Thursday of the week for three months.
Result showed that outdoor activities enhanced the respondents’ strength and endurance as showed by their final PFT result while the feeding program increased the Body Mass Index of the respondents. It is therefore concluded that the proposed intervention and innovations integrated in this study were very much effective for improvement of learning outcomes.
