Diversity and Inclusion
October 28–30, 2025 will remain a memorable milestone for the DepEd IV-A CALABARZON Regional Office as 150 personnel gathered at The PREP in Jala-jala, Rizal, to celebrate teamwork, diversity, and organizational unity.
In line with Regional Memorandum No. 170, s. 2025, the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) spearheaded the team-building activity titled “Diversity & Inclusion: A Journey to Collaboration.” More than a retreat from routine responsibilities, the event provided an avenue for reflection, connection, and reinvigorated purpose—laying the groundwork for a more collaborative, compassionate, and high-performing regional office.
The three-day activity opened with vibrant energy as personnel from every functional division gathered for the welcome program and sharing of objectives. Excitement filled the venue as colleagues reconnected and new friendships began to form.
Regional Director Atty. Alberto T. Escobarte, CESO II, inspired participants with a message emphasizing the profound impact of unity and shared purpose in public service. “Our strength lies in collaboration,” he reminded everyone—a message that resonated throughout the rest of the activity.
Assistant Regional Director Loida N. Nidea immediately built on this momentum through the session “Getting the Right People on the Right Bus,” drawing attention to the importance of aligning personnel strengths with organizational roles. Her message—that each member is essential to the Regional Office’s mission—set a reflective tone for the day. A heartfelt rendition of Desiderata concluded the session, leaving participants uplifted and centered.
The first day culminated in a lively Hawaiian-themed Socials Night that showcased the creativity and spirit of each functional division.
From energetic TikTok dance performances to the playful yet memorable Mr. and Ms. Aloha competition, the evening radiated joy and unity.
Ms. Emelia Cresini was crowned Ms. Aloha
Mr. Ernie Lowiesito claimed the title of Mr. Aloha
The Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) emerged as the TikTok contest champion
Shared laughter, rhythmic dances, and warm fellowship strengthened bonds beyond the workplace—reminding everyone that collaboration thrives where relationships flourish.
Day 2 featured the highly anticipated session by Mr. Joseph Noel “Otep” Titar on the Different Generations in DepEd. With humor, wisdom, and heartfelt storytelling, he highlighted how each generation—whether new to service or decades into it—brings unique strengths that enrich the Department.
Sir Otep’s tribute to teachers and education frontliners moved many participants, reinforcing the value of mutual respect and understanding in a multi-generational workforce.
The afternoon workshop invited personnel to work in groups to create symbolic newspaper-made animal figures representing collaboration. In just 15 minutes, teams enthusiastically designed creative outputs and shared diverse interpretations—turning simple materials into powerful metaphors of teamwork.
The activity concluded with a synthesis of learnings and reflections, celebrating not only the skills gained but the strengthened relationships formed. Through shared experiences—whether through meaningful discussions, creative challenges, or joyful celebrations—participants left the venue with renewed commitment to work as one CALABARZON family.
The three-day event reaffirmed a powerful message:
When diversity is embraced, inclusion is practiced, and collaboration is prioritized, an organization becomes unstoppable in its pursuit of service excellence.
With refreshed hearts and strengthened bonds, personnel of DepEd IV-A CALABARZON return to their units ready to champion unity, compassion, and collaborative leadership—creating a more resilient and empowered regional office.
