GAD Planning and Budgeting
The Department of Education (DepEd) CALABARZON's, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS), recently conducted a Training-Workshop on Synchronized GAD Planning and Budgeting cum Preparation of the GAD Accomplishment Report on August 6 to 8, 2025, at Soleste Suites in Quezon City. This workshop is a vital part of the region's commitment to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment.
The annual workshop serves as the primary mechanism for addressing gender issues and strategically planning for the upcoming fiscal year. In accordance with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Memorandum Circular No. 06, s. 2025, the activity was an offshoot of a prior training conducted by the DepEd Central Office GFPS in Cebu.
The main output of the workshop is the 2026 Regional Consolidated GAD Plans and Budget, which is anchored on the agency's GAD Agenda and Strategic Framework. The plan addresses gender needs and issues for both external stakeholders through client-focused activities and for internal stakeholders through organization-focused activities.
The three-day workshop was designed to help participants identify and align existing gender issues from their schools and Schools Division Offices (SDOs) with the department's identified GAD Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs). They also prepared detailed budget breakdowns for each planned activity and consolidated their plans to form a comprehensive, region-wide GAD Plan and Budget for submission to the Central Office. This alignment is necessary for the plan to be endorsed by the PCW.
The activity was attended by the identified Regional GFPS members, SDO GAD Coordinators and Budget or Planning Officers, ensuring a unified approach to the region's gender-responsive initiatives.
