GAD Mainstreaming Workshop
GAD Mainstreaming Workshop
The Department of Education (DepEd) CALABARZON, through its Regional GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) conducted a follow-through workshop titled “Gender Mainstreaming for the SDO GAD Focal Point System Chairs” on July 9 -11, 2025, at Soleste Suites in Quezon City. The activity aimed to strengthen the top management's role in advancing gender equality within the region.
This initiative stemmed directly from feedback gathered from a previous workshop in March 2025 where Schools Division Superintendents (SDSs) and Assistant Schools Division Superintendents (ASDSs) expressed a need for more in-depth training on GAD. As the officials responsible for signing and approving GAD Plans and Budgets, they underscored the importance of a deeper understanding of the subject.
The workshop was designed to ensure that GAD Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) are properly implemented and that GFPS members are fully functional in carrying out their responsibilities. The top leadership's involvement is considered crucial, as their support and leadership are essential for the proper implementation of gender and development initiatives and for integrating gender perspectives into their respective offices.
The workshop served as a crucial deepening process, reinforcing the appreciation for and value of gender mainstreaming as a core strategy to ensure the inclusion of GAD into the regular programs and projects at the division and school levels.
