For years, it has always been undeniable that DepEd CAR sees to provide quality basic education to all Cordilleran learners. Part of this mission is to deliver education to geographically isolated areas, hence, the implementation of DepEd CAR Regional Office on Wheels. This idea was put forward by Regional Director Cariño and has sprouted from one of the many adjustments in the Distance Learning, which was brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the current national state of the educational system, DepEd CAR has been continuously running its gears to ensure that even schools in far-flung areas get all the services the department can provide.
DepEd CAR RO on Wheels, which stands for Working in Harmony with CAR Educational Leaders for Efficiency and Learning Delivery Support, started its first visit to Amlimay Elementary School in Buguias, Benguet on December 4, 2020 and has since then monitored various schools in the province of Cordillera.
From the start of the coordination of this initiative, and through the span of the COVID-19 pandemic, DepEd CAR RO on Wheels has been providing wholistic capability buildings to school heads and teachers to address the varying gaps in the learning mechanisms of their schools. RO on Wheels has also been coming up health and wellness programs to increase productivity and engagement of all teaching and non-teaching personnel. Moreover, it looks into the Education Data Management of the schools, from its enrollment to the number of classrooms, and the schools’ financial managements.
The RO on Wheels team is also responsible for evaluating and monitoring all these results for technical assistance. These may range from providing necessary assistance when it comes to school integrations and school titling, monitoring of the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) packages, and infrastructural developments.
Through this initiative, DepEd CAR remains true to its vision that no Cordilleran learner will be left behind.
