THE CURRENT PROVINCIAL EDUCATIONAL SITUATION
Eastern Samar is one of the three provinces of the third biggest island in the Philippines, Samar. It covers an estimated land area of 4,450 sq. km., half of which is lying along the coastline with narrow plains extending towards the hinterland along riverbanks. Mountain ranges and rough slopes covered with dense vegetation comprise the interior of the province. It is composed of 22 municipalities and a city, two (2) of which are 6th class, fifteen (15) are 5th class, five (5) are 4th class and one (1), Borongan City, the provincial capital, is a city as shown in the map.
