Day 2 – Journalistic Text (News Article)
📰 “Teens Online: Mental Health Risks”
A recent report from the National Youth Council revealed that nearly 7 out of 10 teenagers spend more than four hours daily on social media. While these platforms provide connection and entertainment, experts warn of increasing cases of anxiety, sleep problems, and low self-esteem.
Psychologist Dr. R. Santos explains: “Excessive use of social media creates unrealistic standards and a constant need for validation, which can harm mental health.”
Schools and families are encouraged to promote balanced digital habits, encouraging offline activities and face-to-face interaction to prevent online dependence.
Day 3 – Literary Text (Poem)
✍️ “Alone but Online”
Surrounded by faces, yet no one is near,
A thousand emojis, but none can hear.
The screen glows brightly, the silence remains,
A click, a like, but no one explains.
In the crowd of followers, still I roam,
Searching for comfort, yet feeling alone.
Connection is promised, but harder to find,
The loneliest place is an online mind.
Day 4 – Used again for comparison:
Day 2 article (“Teens Online: Mental Health Risks”)
Day 3 poem (“Alone but Online”)
Day 5 – Essay Writing Task

Day 7 – Journalistic Text (News Article)
📰 “Plastic Pollution in Philippine Waters”
According to a recent environmental study, the Philippines is one of the top contributors of plastic waste in the world’s oceans. Every year, more than two million tons of plastic enter waterways, harming marine life and coastal communities.
Fishermen in Cavite and Batangas report catching more plastic than fish on some days. “We see plastic bags and bottles stuck in our nets. It affects our income and the health of the sea,” says Mang Rolly, a local fisherman.
Environmental groups call for stronger waste management systems and individual responsibility to reduce plastic consumption.
Day 8 – Literary Text (Eco-Poem)
✍️ “The Dying River”
Once you were clear, a mirror of skies,
Now you run dark, where the plastic lies.
Children once played on your gentle side,
Now they retreat as your waters subside.
Hear us, O river, your voice grows weak,
The silence of fish is the death that we seek.
But hope still flows if we change today,
To heal your wounds and clear your way.
