Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation
In summary, students appreciated the use of school IT hub in various forms through experimentations and explorations. Computer- assisted instructions available in the hub, often seen as fun and exciting to them. It enables them to cope with some lessons they find it difficult to understand. For them, it would be good if they could actually have an interactive planned lesson allowing them to learn at their own pace, giving them the independence and autonomy to self-learning; encourages them to learn with fewer distractions compared to a classroom set-up.
On the other hand, teachers viewed the school IT hub as an avenue for slow learners to cope with the lesson. Through the use of computer- aided instructions available in the hub enables individualized instruction; thus giving them more time to work and focus on the students who have been struggling and needs the most attention.
Generally, both teachers and students have a positive perspective on the efficacy of the school IT hub. Students have access to information which help develop their abilities to become resourceful in locating these range of sources and information supplementing their learning by exploring the hub.
In significance to learning, it has a huge impact on the student’s academic achievements and motivations by being able to access all the needed information that are useful to their learning.
In significance to teaching, it empowers teachers to become more effective by initiating these available CAI’s on the school IT hub that can be used in the classroom set-up. It makes the teacher’s jobs and lives easier; cutting down time spent on preparing lessons. Through the use of CAI’s in the hub, it raises the quality of class discussions so as to the quality of learning being delivered.
Recommendations
1. Orientation among students on how to access the school IT hub.
2. Computer-aided instruction used by teachers must be available in the school IT hub ready to access by the students.
3. School ICT coordinator must have constant update of the school IT hub
4. School must develop a more user-friendly hub
5. Improve student’s media literacy on accessing the school IT hub
