HISTORY
Calamba National High School is geographically located 8km from the city proper at the Southeastern part of the City of Cabadbaran, Agusan Del Norte. The school started during the summer of 1996 when the residents of Barangay Calamba were motivated to open a high school due to increase in the cost of living and was annexed to Agay National High School of R.T.R., Agusan Del Norte. Classes were held at Calamba Elementary School as it opened on S.Y. 19996-1997 catering 62. In 1998, the school site with a land area of 6,000 sq.m was acquired through the effort of Hon. Eduardo L. Rama Sr., Congressman of the Second District of Agusan Del Norte.
On March 18, 2000, President Joseph Estrada signed it into a law as a Republic Act declaring Calamba National High School as an independent national high school entitled to regular allocation from the annual national budget.
At present, Calamba National High School caters 623 students and manned by 21 JHS and 6 SHS teachers, 1 administrative assistant, 2 watchmen and headed by Mr. Mario Jickey C. Perang, Principal II.
The faculty and staff serve 515 students and their families. We facilitate and prepare students for life beyond high school by providing a robust comprehensive K-12 curriculum that develop them historically and eventually make them globally competitive.
Teacher-led initiatives are the norm at Calamba NHS-the school activity are designed, driven and executed by students and teachers.
To fully equip the learners, 92 computers are available, functional library, science laboratory, FBS and cooking laboratories for students’ workshops, an administration office and 18 instructional classrooms.
Calamba National High School does not only cater residents from Calamba but so with the nearby barangays namely; Antonio Luna, Mahaba, Bay-ang and Tagbongabong (of the Municipality of R.T.R). From its existence, its shows that among the rural high schools of Agusan del Norte, Calamba NHS is one of the performing schools in terms of academic and co-curricular activities.
The school has been in service to the community and the neighbouring community for 2 decades now. Being managed by different administrators from its operation in 1996, Mrs. Ana Mae P. Pelegrino took the lead in 1996 until 1998, Dr. Elvina G. Moron from 1998-2000, Mr. Carlito S. Hordista from 2000-2004, Ms. Agnes H. Monton from 2004-2007. Mr. Florante A. More manage the school in 2007 but right that year was transferred and promoted to the division vacating his School Head position. Mr. Filmar M. Anino then took office in 2007-2015. With Mr. Anino’s transfer to division, Mrs. Zandra D. Cabradilla took the sit and designated as School Head in 2016-2017. In 2017-2021, Mr. Mario Jickey C. Perang took the office and designated as the School Head. From 2021 to present, Mrs. Maribeth C. Cabradilla took the office as the new designated School head.
