DOÑA ASUNCION LEE INTEGRATED SCHOOL

HISTORY

Where Doña Asuncion Lee Integrated School (DALIS) stands right now is actually a place of wide crop land covered with wild cogon and debris of lahar from Mt. Pinatubo eruption. It is situated in Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat, Pampanga.

With the onset of January 2009, five months after the actual construction of Xevera Mabalacat North started, DALIS, the home of every DALISians was built. The school stands at the heart of its multi-hectare low-cost housing project together with a magnificent church, commercial center, and town hall. It is the second public school that was built and equipped through the joint efforts of a single business organization and a private NGO.

DALIS is an initiative of Globe Asiatique in partnership with the E-Media Program of the ABS-CBN Foundation. The man behind its construction is the President of Globe Asiatique Mr. Delfin S. Lee, the man who put all his heart to come up with a grandeur school like DALIS. It is named after the mother of Mr. Lee, Doña Asuncion Lee. With an area of five thousand eight hundred forty-four sq. m., (5, 844sq.m.) Globe Asiatique constructed the 48-classroom building which was late donated to the Department of Education (DepEd).

DALIS was officially turned over to the management of the Department of Education in a fitting ceremony organized by its primary sponsor Mr. Delfin S. Lee last May 15, 2009. From the land, to the 3-storey building, to the first-class chairs, and an impressive multi-media room complete with computers, a large screen TV and an educational video library, DALIS is a result of the realization of ABS-CBN Foundation’s (AFI) vision of bringing together different sectors of society to produce a public school that is “a cut above the rest.”

School’s Current Situation

Catering the education needs and demands of the local community where it is situated. Doña Asuncion Lee Integrated School at Xevera, Tabun, Mabalacat. The teaching task force of the school is comprised of 44 elementary teachers and 115 teachers in high school, headed by Carmela P. Cabrera , Principal IV.

The school’s present landscape can be deliberated by looking at the following factors and elements which may serve as indicators of improvement: enrolment data; teacher’s professional development, awards and recognition, performance indicators of quality, performance indicators of governance, and special programs and projects.

Expressively, as far as performance indicators of governance are concerned, stakeholder’s participation in different school endeavors is noticeably increasing compared to previous years. Attendance and donation in cash and in-kind Brigada Eskwela, curricular activities, contests and other programs of the school are all well supportive.

Furthermore, there are also individuals, groups and organizations who contributed additional facilities, equipment, and other materials which are useful to the school. The School-Based Management Assessment Level, the school is already at Level II or at the maturity level.

School's Special Programs and Projects

Some of the notable special programs and projects of the school are the Gulayan sa Paaralan which is an integral part of the National Greening Program in collaboration with the Solid Waste Management Program. GSP aims to sustain the school’s feeding program for the severely wasted children. In addition, the school strictly implementing the waste Segregation System which is manifested on the following; Pet Bottles Globe, Paper Bank, Trash Bins for Waste Segregation. These are being carried out and monitored by the YES– O Club and Science teachers. In like manner, the teachers of other learning areas are focused on providing reading programs and remedial classes to assist struggling learners and increase the overall academic status.

Special Programs in Science and Journalism are also being implemented headed by our School Principal Carmela P. Cabrera together with the STE Coordinator Ms. Angelene R. Cruz and SPJ Coordinator Ms. Diana Cauguiran.
