To address the need of barangay learners from the eastern part of Gonzaga to have an easier access to Secondary Education, a group of concerned citizens headed by Barangay Captain Vicente Ladera, Baua Elementary School PTCA President Jaime Bigornia, School Head Juanita Pascual and Barangay Secretary Tranquilio Domingo forwarded a Resolution to th Division Office of Cagayan requesting for the opening of a High School at Baua, Gonzaga, Cagayan. With the intercession of the Schools Division Superintendent Pedro Aguada, through Supervisor Benjie de Yro, the request was granted thus giving birth to Baua High School on July 27, 1966 with 88 enrolees.
Tasked to teach full time were Alvina Caliva Nee Conde, Rosende Abad, who became a Municipal Mayor, and Loreto Pajas, Part-time teacher and Juanita Pascual as school head.
After four years, the school produced 33 graduating students. The pioneer batch was headed by Fructosos Dian Jr. as Valedictorian and Carmelita Sambrano Nee Baje as Salutatorian. Both served the school with different capacities.
Catering to a growth population, the school needed a wider are giving rise to the problem of a new space. With the cooperation of the parents, the teachers and the community, lots were purchased for the new site situated at Sitio Bigot and Sitio Tabang.
From then on, the school has to thrive on the initiative of various stakeholders of the educative process through the initiative of the school head Carmelita Sambrano until such time that the school has been nationalized via Executive Order 189 with the said order the school has grown leaps and bounds.
After more than two decades of being the school administrator, Sambrano has to leave the school for promotion to head a bigger school as Principal II of Sta. Teresita National High School of the adjacent municipality. In the stead came Emelyne Udarbe – Agcaoili, the former School Head of Callao National High School, Lasam, Cagayan.
Baua National High School was headed by Mrs. Agcaoili for almost two years but due to a wider scope of responsibility, Ma’am Agcaoili was promoted as Aducation Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan in the Division of Cagayan.
Ma’am Agcaoili was followed by Mrs. Virgie lagundino, a Master Teacher II of Sta. Teresita National High School. She served for one year and half.
Mrs. Levi Dela Cruz took the post of Ma’am Virgie for barely two weeks since she was transferred to Ipil National High School. Mrs. Levi Dela Cruz was succeeded by Mrs. Violeta T Ibera, a Master Teacher II of Sta. Teresita national High School. She served the school for about three years. She also wanted a nearer destination of work, so when Gonzaga Comprehensive High School (now Gonzaga National High School) needed a principal, she opted to transfer to the said school.
Mrs. Odilona Custodio, a former Secondary School Principal III of Sta. Ana Fishery National High School returned in her hometown to served Baua National High School. She was officially assigned in this school on June 4, 2012. With her vision of making the school as a center of excellence in academics and technological skills, she is exerting her best efforts to improve the physical facilities as well as the other facts of the school.
And last November 2018, Mr. Reynaldo P. Usigan transferred from Ipil national High School to this institution with his vision of encouraging the students and the staff to perform beyond excellence. At present, the school has no principal yet but very lucky to have Mr. Cresley B. Tablac, Master Teacher I as its Officer-in-Charge to the Office of the School Principal.
