As the Information and Commission Technology Service- Educational Technology Unit (ICT- EdTech) commenced the second Virtual In-service Training (VINSET) for public school teachers yesterday August 30,2021, The Quirino National High School teachers fused online as they synchronously join the VINSET 2.0.
As teachers simultaneously enrolling on the registration link, signals get congested leaving some teachers unregistered, however, registration and enrollment link are always available and daily sessions can be watched via YouTube live. Outputs per session also impose no deadlines.
The VINSEt 2.0 to culminate on September 3, unifies teachers in the country through online training as a response to the emerging needs and adjustment in the educational system in the new normal.
This second Virtual In-Service Training tagged as VINSET aims to capacitate teachers in using different online modality that include DepEd Learning Management System, DepEd COmmons, DepEd Online (FB Page, Youtube, ETULAY Tutorial sessions), DepEd TV, and DepEd Radion; provide awareness and proper handling of technology tools in delivering instruction in synchorous and asynchronous format; learn and apply different components of cyber wellness (data privacy, netiquette, and trouble shooting); teach emerging technology tools and applications to innovate and upgrade their skills in the use of different solutions and in acquiring international certification under Micorsoft, Adobe and Google.
The VINSET 2.0 is expected to bring out teacher's effective class management through digital learning and link the disparity between the existing curriculum and the need to adjust and maintain educational continuity in this unpredictable time. //CLARINDA T. JAVIER,T-III, August 30, 2021
On August 23, 2021, Borromeo assumed his new post as Principal III as the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Madelyn Macalling, CESO VI signed his new appointment being promoted as Principal III.
Borromeo revealed during an interview that aside from what is stipulated in his position description form being a school head is both a leader and a manager. And in terms of leadership and governance, one should recognize and execute the different PPPs, Plans, Project Program encapsulated in SIP, School Improvement Plan to upskill the school.
“Being a leader, I have to take the lead under the umbrella of organization under the school just like the school governance council, the school planning team and even the external stakeholders,” he added.
After having successfully Passed the Qualifying Examination for School Heads, Borromeo assumed his first post as Principal I at Villa Miranda Integrated School, Disulap, San Mariano, Isabela for two years (March 2015 - April 2017).
Taking much experience as Master II for nine years at QNHS, where his humble beginning as Teacher I started, his journey to being head proved that his immense commitment in the field is honed with dedication and with vision to achieve excellence as he was recently awarded the Most Outstanding school Head during the District Search for Most Outstanding Personnel Secondary Level on September 20,2021.
Dr. Michael T. Borromeo, LlB, also taking into account as a manager the diligence of a good father in a family or extraordinary diligence as to fiscal matters.
“I do not just decide on my own I have may fiscal personnel I have other authority to whom we consult, the disbursement of the finances of the school and all other wealthier funds coming in will be properly audited and accounted for disburse. That is the whole picture I want to tell to stakeholders” said Borromeo.
Borromeo was detailed to its second post as school head at Rizal Comprehensive National High School, Rizal Quirino, Isabela, where he took lead from 2017 to 2019. His experience to manage the school further enrich his leadership skills and competencies in various school tilts and activities at different levels. This experience helped him taking QNHS into the top being the Best Performing School in the district in his term.
He emphasized that the most important being a leader and a manager, is his advocacy of the DepEd for the Edukalidad and its pillars. He also considers the students as the main pillars.
“All the things that we are doing is of course for the learners because they are the heart and the soul of the formal education. My philosophy for them is not only to pass their respective levels but for them to succeed in their chosen profession or discipline,” he said.
Borromeo assumed his designation as school head at QNHS on December 2019 when the beginning of Covid 19 Pandemic rewrites the curriculum and post challenge at a global scale.
“The hardest part (during this pandemic) is how to deliver quality education, but we were able to lambast and adjust through proper planning to prevent poor performance in the leadership of the higher education officials with the national policy planning cord, we were able to come up with Basic Education Continuity Plan. As a school head, I have also to educate myself with the ICT and competency of the 21st Century Education, I have to explore, read a lot and to consult persons who are expert on particular applications or platforms.” Borromeo explained.
He also revealed that he can see beauty in it (battling with the pandemic) because even though school personnel belong to different generations, they could still cope with the demand of the ICT for the 21st Century Learning as the DepEd provides capability/capacity building.
“for this second year of pandemic, It will now be easy for me as a school head and all the teachers because the baptism of fire is over and we are now actually enhancing and polishing this unexpected modalities. So kung may masama na dulot ang pandemya may buti ding naidulot especially in the educational parlance. Mr. Aljun D. Cadorna, Teacher III of the Quirino National High School, Senior High School department won the Most Outstanding Teacher Award in the Legislative District 5 search during the celebration of the World Teachers Day, September 24.
Cadorna grabbed champion in the school and district search that made him the representative of Quirino District in the LD 5 search.
Having met all the criteria suggested by the Department of Education in the search, he stood out in the evaluation and bested his contenders.
"I really poured out my best in this feat. And foremost, it was God, who made all these things possible" said Cadorna.
Dr. Michael T. Borromeo, Principal III also commented," Sir Aljun is really the most qualified and deserving teacher to represent LD 5 for the division search".
Meanwhile, Cadorna still got the Outstanding Teacher Award in the division level. // JEA, Oct 20, 2021
