Ballesteros National High School is offering three strands under Academic Track:
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS STRAND (STEM)
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are intertwining disciplines when applied in the real world. The difference of the STEM curriculum with the other strands and tracks is the focus on advanced concepts and topics.
Under the track, you can become a pilot, an architect, an astrophysicist, a biologist, a chemist, an engineer, a dentist, a nutritionist, a nurse, a doctor, and a lot more. Those who are also interested in Marine Engineering should take this track.
The Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand would focus on the basic concepts of financial management, business management, corporate operations, and all things that are accounted for. ABM can also lead you to careers on management and accounting which could be sales manager, human resources, marketing director, project officer, bookkeeper, accounting clerk, internal auditor, and a lot more.
The HUMMS strand is designed for those who wonder what is on the other side of the wall. In other words, you are ready to take on the world and talk to a lot of people. This is for those who are considering taking up journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education, and other social science-related courses in college.
If you take this strand, you could be looking forward to becoming a teacher, a psychologist, a lawyer, a writer, a social worker, or a reporter someday. This strand focuses on improving your communication skills. Oh! And priesthood is a choice in here too!
If you are really not sure if you will be able to pursue any degree after Senior High or if you want to earn money immediately after graduation, then this track is for you. Even without college, Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track will equip you with job-ready skills in the future.
This track also invests primarily on skills that can gain you requisite COCs (Certificates of Competency) and NCs (National Certifications) which would be essential when looking for better career opportunities in agriculture, electronics, and trade. This is also important when applying abroad where the skills you gain would prepare you as you join the workforce.
Also, according to the Department of Education, the TVL specializations may be taken between Grades 9 to 12. Exploratory Subjects at 40 hours per quarter are taken during Grades 7 to 8.
In this track we are also offering three strands you can choose from to make sure that you will go with your right fit.
TVL - Home Economics (Cookery) is responsive to the ever-changing market of food, restaurant, and hotel industries. The growth of food and hospitality industries demand qualified people to accommodate these needs of customers. This strand is under TVL-Home Economics.
The BEAUTY CARE SERVICES (NAIL CARE) NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to perform in enhancing of someone’s personal beauty, such as, performing manicure and pedicure, performing hand spa and performing foot spa. This strand is under TVL-Home Economics.
‘Dressmaking’ describes putting garment shapes together, by hand sewing or machining, to complete a garment. It can be done following a ‘Paper pattern-instruction sheet’, sold with a branded garment ‘paper pattern’, such as Vogue, Butterick, Simplicity, McCalls and others. A dressmaker is competent in garment making, and may also adapt, alter and redesign elements as a fashion designer would. This strand is under TVL-Home Economics.
Caregiving NC II is a technical-vocational program that trains students how to provide care and support to infants/toddlers, the elderly, patients with disabilities and special needs, as well as end of life care. This strand is under TVL-Home Economics.
The ORGANIC AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to produce organic farm products such as chicken and vegetables including producing of organic supplements such as fertilizer, concoctions and extracts. While, the PEST MANAGEMENT (VEGETABLES) NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve in implementing pest management activities in both backyard and commercial vegetable farms. Specifically, it involves carrying out competencies in pest management in relation to the growing of vegetables specifically solinaceous crops such as tomato, pepper and eggplant, and crucifers such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and Chinese cabbage. This strand is under TVL-Agri-Fishery Arts.
The Electrical Installation and Maintenance is part of the Technical-Vocational track and it was an industrial art. The students are specialized with analyzing signs, electrical symbols and data, interpretation of technical drawings and plans, maintaining of electric hydraulic tools, installation of electric metallic tubing, wire ways and cable trays; installing telephone terminal cabinet, cable Bridge. And also the selection of wiring devices used for floor and ground fault current interrupter which is based from the Philippine Electrical Code standards. (MFI FOUNDATION, 2014) The Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) strand aims to prepare students with skills and abilities when it comes to electrical industry. This strand consists of laboratory activities to show the effectiveness of developing the Electrical Installation and Maintenance students' skills essential to the field of electrical. Every student begins with the basic fundamentals of electricity and wiring of simple circuits, then will proceed to the advanced phases which are the residential interior wiring, the alternating current power, and wiring of more complex circuits and equipment. This strand is under TVL - Industrial Arts.
The Sports Track aims to give you understanding of the basic principles and techniques in relation to physical education and recreation. It will also offer you discuss various factors that affect social, psychological, and cognitive development in sports leadership and management. Professions that are related in this track are fitness trainers, game officials, tournament manager, recreation attendant, masseur, or gym instructor.
