What is an Alternative Learning System?
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) is an educational program in the Philippines designed to provide a second chance to those who have dropped out of formal schooling. It offers a flexible, non-traditional approach to learning for out-of-school youths and adults, allowing them to continue their education at their own pace and convenience. ALS covers basic elementary to high school education and includes practical skills training and livelihood programs.
It aims to help learners acquire the necessary competencies to re-enter the formal education system or improve their quality of life through better employment opportunities. The program is tailored to meet the diverse needs and circumstances of its learners, making education more accessible and inclusive.
