The school has its humble beginning in June 2016 as the first Senior High school in General Trias Cavite, through the joint effort of Schools Division office-Cavite province and the local government of General Trias headed by Congressman Luis A. Ferrer IV, Honorable City Mayor Antonio A. Ferrer and the Sangguniang Bayan, with the assistance of Dr. Prudencio M. Animas who was then the Principal of Governor Ferrer Memorial National High School, Complying to the requirement of Department of Education about the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum in the Philippines.
During the establishment of the school, it was labeled as General Trias Senior High School-Stand alone, eventually it was finally named after Governor Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. who was a respected community leader and advocate for education. Due to high percentage of enrollees from Junior High School and because of the on-going construction of school buildings, temporarily all the incoming senior high students together with the teachers were assigned to occupy two buildings borrowed from Sunny Brooke Elementary School in Brgy. San Francicso and one building from Governor Ferrer Memorial National High School-Main. To address the demands, Local Government Unit of General Trias city donated a tract of land measuring 2500 sq. meters and a 4-storey building with 20 classrooms serve as the main campus of Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. Senior High School. National Government under PAGCOR and the Department of Education also donated additional 4-storey building with 20 classrooms and 4-storey building with 8 classrooms respectively to accommodate the growing population of LYFJSHS.
Presently, Luis Y. Ferrer Jr Senior High School is situated inside South Square village in Pasong Kawayan 2 General Trias City, headed by Sally P. Genuino, Principal II employing more than 100 nationally funded teachers, 8 probationary teachers, 7 local school board, 5 non-teaching personnel and 9 job order employees. True to its commitment in providing a well-rounded education has led to the development of a strong academic program that offers a range of tracks, including STEM, ABM, and HUMSS. In addition to these academic tracks, the school also offers Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track specialized in Beauty and Nail Care (BNC), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Cookery, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) strands that provides students with practical skills that they can use to pursue in various fields.
Through the years, LYFJSHS has developed a strong support system for its students and has remained committed to the DepEd Core values which is MAKADIYOS, MAKATAO, MAKA KALIKASAN AT MAKABANSA and guided by DepEd Vision-mission. The school’s counseling, career guidance, and mentoring programs provide students with the resources they need to make informed about their future education and career paths.
