DISASTER RISK REDUCTION & MANAGEMENT

Disaster risk management is the application of disaster risk reduction policies and strategies to prevent new disaster risk, reduce existing disaster risk and manage residual risk, contributing to the strengthening of resilience and reduction of disaster losses.

Duck down to the floor, take cover under a sturdy table or desk, and hold on until the shaking stops. Remember: Avoid danger spots near windows, hanging objects, mirrors, or tall furniture.

When an earthquake happens it is too late to discover that parts of your plan may not work.” This activity practice the students, teachers and employee do the duck, cover, and hold as one of the safety measures on how to protect themselves from falling objects or debris in case of earthquakes.

DRRMC HOLDS EARTHQUAKE DRILL IN SCHOOL


Nicolas Agatep supported the DRRM program, which aims to educate students and school staff on how to be prepared for any unforeseen disasters that may occur at any time. The exercises aim to improve disaster response preparations and raise awareness among students, teachers, and stakeholders.

The activities in which the students and faculty members participated included lectures and actual demonstrations of disaster preparedness. Other personnel MDRRM disseminated information about the earthquake's occurrence prior to the actual drills. Relevant topics were discussed in order to increase the students' awareness and safety precautions before, during, and after the earthquake.

The Municipality of Lasam's DRRM Team emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness being integrated into all subject learning areas.
