Researcher: Mrs. Melanie O. Echavarri
Abstract:
The proponent will use MAPPING (Maximizing Parents’ Participation and Involvement in Nurturing and Guiding) Grade 6 Pupils is the intervention to be used in the study. This is an intervention and strategy wherein parents/guardians are engaged in the education of their children.
The role of the proponent in this study will be both facilitator and tutor. The teacher will provide the pupils with the teacher -made enrichment lessons/activities thru worksheets. The participants are advised to stay at home and study the assigned teacher -made worksheets at their own pace and most convenient time. This will be done with the supervision of their parents or guardians. The pupils will be guided by their parents to answer the activity sheets provided by the proponent. This will be done from 4:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon after their home classes from Monday to Friday during the fourth quarter.
Activities in the worksheets and the problems to be used in the pretest and posttest will be based from textbooks and LRMDS downloaded materials to be quality assured by the Master Teacher and the Principal.
Copies of the worksheets will be distributed to the parents every Monday and retrieval of answered sheets will be done every Friday. This will be done like Modular Distance Learning. Since, COVID-19 cases are alarming, the proponent will follow Resolution No. 29 of the IATF and DepEd health standard as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2020. The proponent monitors the participants via messenger, SMS, audio call, videocall in facebook. It gives feedback via messenger for the participants to know what learning task to improve and how it will be done. Repeat the same process until the competency is mastered.
ELECTRONIC GRAPHIC ORGANIZER IN IMPROVING THE INFERRING SKILLS OF GRADE 5 PUPILS ALONG UNFAMILIAR WORDS
Researcher: Mrs. Leslie L. Tolentino
Abstract:
Vocabulary is the central of language teaching and learning. It plays an important role in the four language skills, which gives contribution to the pupils to perform or practice their skills better. It is impossible for the pupils to create simple sentence well if their vocabulary is very poor. It’s hard for pupils to read and understand a text if they don’t know what the word mean. The more words pupils know, the better they understand the text.
This action research aims to improve the competency of Grade-5 pupils in inferring meaning of unfamiliar compound and blended words using context clues through the use of Electronic Graphic Organizer.
The proponent will use Electronic Graphic Organizer. This learning strategy aims to help pupils develop their vocabulary skills by means of inferring meaning of unfamiliar compound and blended words using context clues.
The proponent will create different electronic graphic organizers that will aid pupils broaden their vocabularies. There were eight kinds of graphic organizers prepared by the proponent to be distributed to the pupils. These graphic organizers will be saved on a drive. Pupils are encouraged to manipulate their gadgets in answering the activities given to them with the assistance of their parents or guardians, siblings, and knowledgeable others . Instructions were included in the file on how to accomplish their task.
STAR IN IMPROVING THE WORD RECOGNITION LEVEL OF GRADE 2 PUPILS
Researcher: Mrs. Onelia A. de la Cuesta
Abstract:
“Reading is an essential skill in life and reading intervention can be fundamental for many students to find success and be better able to achieve in academics. “ Learning to read is a prerequisite for success in our literate society.”( Hines, 2019, p.21 )
The proponent will use the STAR (Strive Toward Achievement in Reading) as an intervention program to improve the word recognition level of Grade 2 pupils. The will be given a copy of word list to read at home using the Fuller Method in CVC pattern to the struggling readers. The Fuller Method is a combination of the alphabet, phonics and whole method of teaching word recognition. The approach requires that the beginning reader should have first the mastery of the names and shapes of the letters of the alphabet.
Parents will be oriented through group chat on how to implement the intervention to their children. His/her parents will rate his/her ability to read by putting a Star on the copy of his/her selection. The teacher will validate the rate of his parents by putting another Star on the copy, thus a child will be earning Stars depending on his/her reading skill. These copy of word list will be adopted from the Fuller lessons and from the Philiri and further contextualized by the proponent to suit the reading level of the respondents. The reading materials will be validated by master teachers and school head.
The participants are advised to stay at home and read the assigned reading materials at their own pace and most convenient time from Monday to Friday during the fourth quarter. This will be done with the guidance and assistance of their parents or guardians.
DEAR IN IMPROVING THE VOCABULARY WORD RECOGNITION SKILLS OF GRADE 3 PUPILS IN ENGLISH
Researcher: Ms. Emelie R. Lorenzo
Abstract:
Vocabulary is list of words with their meanings, especially in a book for learning a foreign language. It is a core component of language proficiency and provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, read, and write. The teachers know they must do something with the language of their content areas and provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, read and write.
The proponent will use the DEAR ( Drop Everything And Read) strategy through compiled reading materials which will be lifted from the Learners material, Phil-Iri and Fuller Lessons. The List of Vocabulary words will be used in phrase ,sentences and short stories for the pupils to understand the meaning of these words and to improve their vocabulary word recognition skills. This reading materials will be enhanced by localized pictures to help them understand the meaning of the words and motivate the learners to read. As an intervention program, pupils are asked to read the words, phrases, sentences and short stories that they can find from the compiled reading materials that will be distributed by the teacher. This program will help the pupils embrace the value of reading. The parent will list down every single word the learner has mispronounced or could not read. The error will be repeatedly read by the learner until he/she reaches the mastery level. The parent will not allow the child to continue the next lesson on the other day unless the child shown mastery of the words.
IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 4 PUPILS IN IDENTIFYING THE MAIN IDEA THRU ENHANCED GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
Researcher: Mrs. Remedios I. Tanghal
Abstract:
Reading comprehension is a complex task which depends on a range of cognitive and linguistic processes. According to the Simple View of Reading, this complexity can be captured as the product of two sets of skills: decoding and linguistic comprehension. The ultimate goal of reading is comprehension: for the reader to reconstruct the mental world of the writer. As skilled readers, this usually feels pretty effortless and comprehension flows naturally as we read along.
The proponent will used Enhanced Graphic Organizer with Contextualized Activity Sheets as an intervention to to improve the performance of Grade 4 pupils in identifying the main idea. Graphic organizers will be lifted from the LRMDS and to be enhanced by the proponent with the inclusion of colored pictures and to be printed in booklet form.
These will be used by pupils with the guidance of their parents and siblings to improve their skills in identifying the main idea of the text they read. The proponent will give sets of stories taken from the Developing Reading Power 4 Enriched Combined edition. These will be contextualized by the proponent.
IMPROVING THE SKILL IN READING BASIC SIGHT WORDS OF GRADE 1 PUPILS THRU PLAY AND READ
Researcher: Mrs. Josephine D. Adena
Abstract:
Developing the reading skills of every learner is very vital in the Educational system as stated in the Deped Order no.18,s2017-Guidelines on the utilization of Every Child a Reader Program (ECARP) which aims to develop Filipino Children the literacy and numeracy skills and attitudes, which will contribute to lifelong learning.
The proponent will use Play and Read as an intervention program in improving the reading skills of grade 1 pupils particularly in reading basic sight words.Play and Read is a gaming type of reading strategy with Iloko words in mastering the competency of pupils in reading Iloko basic sight words.
This will involve the parents of the pupils. This strategy requires parents to teach and facilitate the process of reading through playing. The parent will be given a score board where he/she can write the pupil’s scores whether he/she got the correct answer. In the event that the pupil got it incorrectly, the parent will put a cross mark for the teacher to validate during the monitor session.
The researcher will create flashcards in various shapes to where the letter of each basic sight words will be written. The pupil will arrange the puzzle in the form of shapes to form the sight word. After forming the shapes, the pupil will read the sight word printed on it. The proponent will distribute the flashcards containing 10 Iloko sight words a week for the pupil to master. Every Friday the Grade 1 teacher will give oral reading activity sheets that will be made to evaluate the reading performance of pupils. These activity sheets will be quality assured by the master teacher and the principal for validation.

Abstract:
Fractions are an essential foundational skill for future mathematics success (NMAP, 2008). Fractions have been used for over the years already and are used in a countless types of everyday life situations and in mathematics, and yet many among learners have much difficulty in understanding and mastering it.
S&J LAPS stands for Study Jams Lesson And Practice Strategy. It is an activity patterned from Scholastic.com. It gets into word problems with solving problems in fractions and walks pupils through it step by step. It aims to improve pupils’ achievement in solving problems with addition and subtraction of fractions.
Pupils will go on a step by step lesson about how to attack a word problem with fractions. At the end of the lesson pupils get to try a few problems on their own. If you have the right kids that need something to do independently, this could be a good strategy. In this study, some modifications shall be made to suit given activities to pupils’ background and context. The problems to be given shall be contextualized in order to let pupils have closer connection to the situations given. The lessons and activities shall be used by pupils through sending them the soft copy for those who have gadget to use; likewise it can be printed as lesson and activity guide cards for the pupils who do not have gadget to use to get the soft copy. Questions shall be given to them to check their understanding of the story they read. S&J LAPS will be implemented for two week after the approval of this proposal.
