CABARITAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was named after the name of the barangay which was brought by the natives of Barangay Cabaritan from Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Region. It is one of the oldest schools in the municipality and is strategically located along the coastal area considered as the poblacion. It has been known as one of the biggest schools when all the school age children from the three adjacent barangays were still attending school to this institution.
The school has a hectare land area with only six instructional classrooms; three of which is already twenty years of occupancy and nearing dilapidation. The administration room was constructed thru the initiative of the community and parents association in the year 2000 and at present is used as Kindergarten classroom because the school's insufficiency of classroom. The school is surrounded with blooming flowering plants and Talisay trees that give shade to the school children during noon break. The school initiated the construction of a Kabayani and Math park to familiarize the school children about History and Mathematics. a school mini gym was strategically constructed at the eastern part of the school premise. It is an all-purpose hall that accommodates every activity the school undertakes throughout the year.
The school children come from all walks of life. they speak fluently in Ilokano and some speak of Ibanag. Most of these school children belong to families in the poverty line. At present, there are forty-five pupils who are beneficiaries of the Programang Pantawid Pamilya ni Pinoy. Most of their parents were not able to finish high school or college and some are also considered at low literacy level. This scenario is perceived to be the cause of the low performance of the school in the National Achievement Test. It was also noted that only few excel in the four core areas of learning.
