Below are some platforms for hosting your online presence, but you can use other platforms, if you prefer.
LinkedIn. This is the recommended platform for students to establish a professional presence and connect with peers, DePauw faculty and staff, and potential employers. Friendly reminder that all DePauw students have free access to all LinkedIn Learning resources (see this page for LinkedIn Learning sign-up instructions).
Personal website. Recommended free platforms for non-technical users include Google Sites, Wix, and WordPress. Students can also use their web development skills, if applicable, to create their own websites.
Social media. Recommended platforms include Facebook, Instagram, or X.
Linktree. This free platform allows users to create a single link that includes multiple other links of choice (e.g. portfolio, social media, YouTube channel, etc.). Below is a Linktree example from Tenzer's Intern, Celine Pham '27.
You are welcome to use any suitable NFC application to write the link to your card, but we recommend considering the NFC Tools application; see instructions below:
Download the "NFC Tools" application (available for both Apple and Android)
Click on "Write" >> "Add a record" >> "URL/URI"
Insert the URL you want to add to the NFC card and click "OK"
Hold the card behind your phone and click "Write/29 Bytes" (29 bytes is the link's memory capacity; the number may differ depending on your link)
Check that your card works. Hold your card behind your phone (your phone must support NFC in order to read NFC cards) and see if the link you've added pops up.
Important:
NFC reading is only supported on iOS from iPhone SE and later, and some Android mobiles do not support NFC. Therefore, in order to be read by all devices, consider adding a QR code generated from your website to your sticker design following the steps below:
Access this link and enter your website URL
Customize the appearance of the QR code
Get a QR code linking to your website
Download the QR code image file
Attach it to your sticker design
To separate and identify your card from other cards, please consider adding some customization. Options include: drawing directly on your NFC card (using a sharpie or other permanent marker) or designing and printing custom sticker(s).
If you want to print on our provided stickers, please use this Canva template to design your sticker. Note: you must create a (free) Canva account, if you don't already have one.
Then upload your sticker designs to this form using your DePauw email by 12:00PM Noon Monday, November 25th. We will print your stickers at no cost to you and then distribute them on Wednesday, December 4th, during the same day/time window as the Card Verification Day.
Important:
Save the designs in .png format
Name your file(s) following the form's instructions
Request no more than 2 sticker designs for the front and back of the card (see example below)
Upload all your designs at once since the form only allows one submission per DePauw email address
