Assess
The Denison School Counseling program is continually assessed on the design and delivery of our counseling program. We study the student impact by analyzing participation, mindsets & behaviors, and outcome data. By using this data and the advice of our advisory council we continually strive to modify and enhance the services provided to our students.
Counseling Goals and Results 2022-2023
Curriculum Results:
1. Kindergarten safety lessons showed a growth of 58.6 percentage points between pre and post-test scores.
What we did: taught 3 safety lessons using the Safe Side curriculum
2. High School transition lessons resulted in a mean score of 7.48/10 on feelings about going to high school.
5 students requested follow up with the counselor.
What we did: taught 3 class lessons about high school transition. Following the lesson, we met with any students who requested to speak with the counselor more about high school. Of the 5 students who needed more support, 100% felt they were adequately ready for high school following the additional meeting.
3. Character Counts lessons showed a growth of 74.3 percentage points between pre and post test scores on understanding being a good friend in 3rd grade.
What we did: taught six lessons over friendship and being kind to others. Following the lessons, we reviewed and assessed understanding of friendship and kindness toward others. Students in 3rd grade report more friendships since the lessons started.
