Our Gallery
Newham standing citizens' Assembly Gallery
This gallery is a live resource being created by the participants of the Newham Standing Citizens' Assembly.
This is a space where we can explore personal responses to the themes and perspectives as we move through the Assembly process. It is an opportunity for us to draw on the creativity in our lives be that in the garden, in the kitchen, with our children, loved ones and community, through craft or art or simply in what we experience through our senses.
You are invited to add your personal responses through whatever creative media you choose. If you want to share something please contact pandora@demsoc.org and she will upload it for you.
Enjoy.
Thanks for Constance, Yasmin, Pete, Andrew and Habib for sharing their fantastic images and comments.
If you'd like to add yours please get in touch.

Greenwich Park, with Queen's House in the background
West Ham Park: "Most importantly the Park Office & first aid was clearly marked near the main entrance & by the children's play area"
West Ham Park: "I like the creativity on the tree trunk."
"West Ham Park , Stratford Park , Central Park & Plashet park are holding Eid Prayer on 20th of July for Muslims. As due to the pandemic it’s not possible to hold prayers in big scale. As a Muslim I appreciated Newham Council letting us celebrate Eid prayers at a big scale."
"A decision by Newham Council to make
limited of it's parks available to mark the celebration of Eid al-Adha has been hailed a success. I would like to thank the Mayor, her team and everyone involved who made it possible, on behalf of the Muslim community!!!"

Goosley Playing Fields - there used to be an outdoor gym in this space
"I have been to Canning Town Recreation Ground, it’s a beautiful open field & kids have an open plan play area..."
"...the worse thing is recycling bins were over filled & beside rubbish lying around & it looks like recycling bins has not been emptied for months. The site was eye sore beside beautiful ground & on the main road. I hope Newham Council has to sort the mess out."

Stratford Park
Beautifully kept park. Good for sitting, laying or walking around.
However, one section practical for younger persons is taken over by idle burly youths constantly hanging about.
West Ham Park
Lovely and beautifully laid out.
Plenty of activity spaces.
Plaistow Park
Entrance bench - repair
Main path - no benches
Open bin - rusting away
Missing bench
Rough surface - hard for me to walk up this slight hill
Another rough surface on approach to the pond
Benches removed from around the pond
Rough ground where benches were removed
Rose bush beds - no bark to prevent weed growth
Return path - all benches in constant use
More weeds in rose bush beds
Overgrown and poorly maintained pond
Local wildlife
Bit more west Ham Park
As it's so good!
Greenway
New housing here - 100 homes but no new parks
Greenway
Ok for biodiversity but this is too dense or people to enjoy
Quite a large number of overgrowing blackberry bushes
Yep - seems bins can be near seats - but perhaps too near?
Path now down the middle - I and others avoid, as fast cycles and and electric powered scooters
Here we are after a fabulous fourth day of hard work together
