Work in Trades
Work in Trades is a paid apprenticeship program where students in Grades 10 to 12 work under the supervision of a certified tradesperson. Students who participate in the program receive high school credits while they complete their paid apprenticeship. Students can earn 4 to 16 graduation credits and complete 480 training hours toward their trade credential.
Students can add Train in Trades to their Work in Trades program if they would like to complete their Level 1 theory of their trade, while they earn their training hours. Other benefits of Work in Trades include:
Head start on a career in the skilled trades
Earn 16 elective credits toward graduation
Program equals four courses
480 paid work hours towards your apprenticeship
Seamless transition from school to work
Eligible for a $1,000 award
Requirements to participate in the Work in Trades program:
Have a parent or guardian permission
Be 15 years of age or older and be enrolled in grade 10, 11 or 12
Have paid work in an apprentice-able trade
Have a Certified Tradesperson as a sponsor
Provide your own transportation
