Where We Are in Place and Time (Migration is a Response to Human Circumstances and Challenges)

using SPECIFIC vocabulary (factor, product, multiple, equation, etc.)
Area model for multiplication (video on math page)
Now, we are also:
rounding decimals to hundredths
estimating and adding decimals
comparing and ordering fractions and decimals
looking at the 12 and 24 hour clocks, and elapsed time

Student Timeline Activity: Students are creating personal timelines as part of our first unit of inquiry (See IB Learning Drop down menu)
Events are organized in a linear fashion that, combined with visual representation, allows students to express their ideas. The timelines will allow us to make connectinos with the various people we study this year
Student Family Tree: Students are creating a family tree that features the people they are connected to, biologically or otherwise, and how they are connected
Goals:
find a source (parent, grandparent, etc.) who can help you piece together your background - record this information for use in an art piece
think about a way of organizing your information. It could be a basic family tree with you at the bottom, and branches that lead to your parents, grandparents, etc., or, it may include additional members and connections. You get to do the organization in a way that works for you. Present the information "artistically" (to be completed in class)
eventually we will share stories from the people on our tree

About Ms. McD:
Ms. McD. likes reading and watching mysteries. She loves to travel and see new things, and especially likes "people watching". Ms. McD took a bang to the head (well, over the years quite a few) and she is learning new things about her brain and how it works!
Ms. McD. loves teaching and gets really attached to her classes. Her favourite person in the world is her dog Ghilli. She's very fond of her human family too...
