Taylor Ohlstrom currently teaches at a Title 1 high school in Atlanta, Georgia. She has also taught in Colorado. She has taught all levels of Integrated Math, Geometry, AP Calculus, and College Algebra. She is certified to teach gifted/talented students, English Language Learners, IB, college courses to high school students, AP, and IB.
Taylor is a National Board Certified Teacher, Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms alumni, and NEA Global Fellow alumni. She has served her schools in multiple capacities including AVID teacher, department chair, Digital Learning Team member, MTSS team member, and grade level team lead. Additionally, she has received state and national awards for her work in equity in math education. She has spoke at several conferences on engaging girls in STEM, bringing relevance to math classrooms, and incorporating mathematics in cross curricular projects. She has also been featured in multiple articles including improving AP programs as Title 1 schools and engaging families.
Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction in Critical Pedagogy from the University of Colorado.
When she is not teaching, Taylor enjoys spending time with her husband and animals (3 dogs and 1 cat) and hiking outdoors.
Dr. Cicely Woodard is an experienced teacher leader who has taught secondary mathematics since 2003. She has spent most of her career teaching in middle schools in Tennessee. Currently, her passion for students learning math is evident in her high school mathematics classroom in Springfield, Missouri. Students in her math classes develop critical thinking skills while engaging in challenging math tasks that require them to justify their thinking and critique the reasoning of others through small group work and writing about math. Cicely believes that learning math can help her students face life’s challenges with confidence.
Cicely is a 2017 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Recipient, the 2018 Tennessee Teacher of the Year, a 2019 Horace Mann for Teaching Excellence Award Winner, the 2019 NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence Winner, and a 2022 NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellow. Cicely serves on the advisory board of Teachers1on1, an online platform dedicated to helping students succeed by providing virtual learning led by qualified teachers. Cicely also serves as a professor of math reasoning at Reach University, a non-profit university that offers job-embedded learning. Cicely earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Memphis, a Master of Education Degree from Vanderbilt University, and a Doctor of Education Degree from Lipscomb University
An educator since 1998, Kate McCann presently teaches Algebra II and Advanced Placement Statistics at U-32 Middle & High School in Montpelier. Kate is a National Board Certified Teacher in Mathematics, the 2017 Vermont State Teacher of the Year, a 2018-19 Albert Einstein Fellow, 2015 recipient of the Presidential award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, 2021 NEA Foundation Global Fellow and is a local leader in the Washington Central Educators Union.
In 2021 Kate was one of three teachers statewide to be selected as a member to the Legislative Pension Benefits, Design and Funding Task Force. Kate is currently running for Vermont state representative.
When she is not teaching, Kate enjoys contributing to the small business she owns with her husband and spending time with her two daughters.
