Oak Grove provides gifted services, to students identified as gifted, according to the instructional model outlined by the Georgia Department of Education. Gifted students are served through the cluster and advanced content delivery models. This means that identified students are served in the regular education setting by a gifted endorsed teacher. The classroom teacher will utilize varied teaching strategies, pacing and activities to meet individual needs. Students will make explorations and connections in math, science, literature and art through interactive and hands-on activities. This approach allows children to learn in a collaborative school culture that takes advantage of resources and appropriate decision-making opportunities. The students will be taught to apply knowledge and thinking skills to solve complex problems and experience real world applications of their learning.
All teachers will utilize project-based learning, meaningful experiences and direct instruction to enrich the gifted student's learning experience. There is so much all Oak Grove teachers already do innately and daily to provide optimal learning that is "above and beyond" the typical classroom. Our goal is for all students to be challenged to learn at their maximum potential.
