The Computer Science Field is one of the fastest growing and highest paying career paths in the world. Even students who are not interested in Computer Science as a career benefit by developing logical thinking and problem-solving skills while learning to be avid computer users.
About me
My name is Mrs. Shagam. I have been a teacher for 15 years and have taught computer science for that entire time. My first 10 years were spent in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. I'm privileged to have spent my past five years here in DeForest.
I was a computer programmer before I was a teacher. I have an Associate of Science in Computer Programming and Analysis, a Bachelor of Science in Software Development, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Computer Science Teaching, a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology.
I am from Northeast Wisconsin, but have lived in this area for the past 20 years. I live in Madison with my son, Archer. Archer goes to Eagle Point in DeForest. We have two dogs, Charlie and Max, and two cats, Beemer and Pumpkin.
I love gardening, reading, fitness, long bike rides, spending time with friends and family and sharing my love of computer science, particularly coding, with students. I direct Camp Invention for DeForest, as well as facilitate and teach at the middle school STEAM camp and Family STEAM Night.
