Deer Park High School’s criteria for induction into the National Honor Society include: 

● Must be a junior or above 

● Must have an overall unweighted academic average of 90 or above 

● May not have failed any classes 

● May not be on the academic or attendance ineligibility list 

● Must belong to school sports and/or clubs 

● Must obtain coaches’ and Advisers’ signatures to attest to student’s length of participation in the sport or club and the student’s role within the activity, including demonstration of leadership 

● Must have community service 

● Involvement in outside-of-school activities is considered 

● Must gather three letters of recommendation from teachers that include scores for character and leadership 

A committee of teachers from every subject area meets to review the students’ application packets and tallies a score based on a rubric of the above criteria. Students with the highest overall rubric scores are selected for induction.
