encourages curiosity by allowing student to ask questions
Collaboration (How? Why?)
In the past, we had already collaborated on a project entitled the "History Hall of Fame." In this project, students researched a historical figure and argued why this individual should be inducted into the "History Hall of Fame."
In 2016, we both came back from MassCUE excited about the potential to put to use the recently-purchased 3D printer at Dedham High School.
We decided that we would incorporate 3D printing into the "History Hall of Fame" project by having the students also design a monument for the historical figure they were researching.
This collaboration worked out so well that we decided to try and find other ways to collaborate.
Last year, we created the "History Through Comics" project, which also was a great success.
This year, we decided to implement "makerspaces" into the history classroom, which so far has been going well.
Collaborating has benefited both of our departments. The library now has a wider array of resources available (ex. historical graphic novels), while the history classroom can better differentiate learning using these resources. These collaborations have also allowed the library staff to form stronger relationships with students.
