In 5th grade class we have been talking a lot about rhythms and grooves in Africa and/or beginning to talk about the Blues. This week we are going to side track and watch a movie (yup!) Watch this recording of Stomp! It's an off broadway show where men and women come together and groove on various instruments- but they AREN’T actually instruments.
While you are watching write down every non instrument you see (stop sign, broom, dish, etc)
Next week we are going to ask you to make your own rhythm groove on instruments you see around the house. Hope this movie inspires you to find something supper unique to your own home.
