Abstract
When Title IX was first passed in 1972, participation in women's sports began to dramatically increase. However, the amount of funding and participation levels are still swayed towards men's sports even after 50 years. There is still more work to be done in order to create an equal opportunity for all athletes, regardless of gender.

I chose this topic because I enjoy playing sports, but I have seen examples of inequality at my high school. I wanted to learn more about how women's sports have evolved over time, especially after Title IX, as well as explore recent examples of discrimination, and how people have resisted.
