IMPORTANT SPEECH SEASON TIDBITS AND REMINDERS
Be clear about your own schedule and try out for a workload you will be able to handle successfully. We expect you to take your commitment to speech and to your teammates seriously. KNOW YOUR SCHEDULING LIMITS! Do not overcommit. Once contest fees are paid, you will be expected to perform or pay the registration fee. Your schedule is considered during casting and students with similar conflicts may be grouped together for ease of rehearsal scheduling. Rehearsal locations and times for the full season will be posted when we begin so you can plan accordingly. Reread the participation contract online. You will be expected to clear your calendar for all contest dates and be in attendance for the full day of contest.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Two unexcused absences from rehearsals will result in removal from the cast. If you are going to be gone for an excused reason, you must notify your director. Small or large role, everyone is important to the team’s success. You must communicate directly with your director about scheduling or other conflicts and not pass on information through other teammates. If that happens, it will be considered grounds for removal from the group. We value the time you are committing to speech and promise to end rehearsals on time. We ask you to respect your teammates and be prompt (5 minutes early if possible) so we can can begin rehearsals on time. Quality use of rehearsal time depends on your promptness and preparation! If the rehearsal calendar changes due to weather or uncontrollable issues, we will do our best to rearrange in a way that does not create schedule conflicts. We ask that you remain flexible and do your best to be at every rehearsal if that happens.
