Introduction to Business - This .25 Career credit course is designed to prepare students in the world of business and finance. It exposes them to business terminology, concepts, and current business practices in a variety of industries. It helps them establish a viable business vocabulary, foster critical and analytical thinking, and gives them the opportunity to create their own business plan.
Entrepreneurship - This .25 Career credit course gives students the opportunity to explore various occupations and learn industry standards for career and finances in those respective fields. Students engage with industry experts on field trips and classroom visits from guest speakers including WaFd Bank, Wieden + Kennedy Advertising Agency, OnPoint CCU, Oregon Underdog Law Office, and many more.
Students operate the Fir Ridge Student store, create marketing and advertising for products and learn about:
cost and profit
customer service skills
operate a POS system
make change and balance a till
ordering and checking in merchandise
accounting
sales tax and income tax
importance of advertising and marketing
