Culturally responsive Professional development

Freedom Dream #2

We want the district to rethink, reimagine, and reconstruct our professional development system to provide high quality training on equity and culturally responsive practices for all licensed and classified staff.
Demands:
  • Fully operational and evaluated Equity teams in EVERY building
  • Stop outsourcing PD’s - we have quality leaders of color
  • Compensation for staff of color who develop and facilitate professional development on equity and culturally responsive practices.

Updates/Connections:

  • Staff of color applied for and received funding and support from Multnomah Clackamas Regional Education Network (MCREN) to strengthen building equity teams districtwide.

  • Certified staff's 1-year contract includes an MOU to launch a Listening Campaign centered on issues of equity.

  • Our district has created a Steering Committee to create a 5 year plan for DDSD. The thread of the overall work, prioritizes equity at the forefront.
