Due Dates
Focus: Creating Real-World Innovations
In 11th grade, students take ownership of their learning by developing an Innovative Solution Project aligned to their chosen pathway:
Engineering
Computer Science
Biomedical Science
This is a pre-Capstone experience where students begin working at a higher level of independence and rigor.
Identify a real-world problem within their pathway
Develop a market concept proposal and system design
Create prototypes, models, or technical designs
Consider users, impact, and feasibility
Present ideas to peers and receive feedback
Innovation and design thinking
Technical and pathway-specific skills
Communication and presentation
Project planning and iteration
👉 Goal: Prepare students to design and develop a full Capstone project
By the time students reach 12th grade, they have:
Practiced identifying real-world problems
Used data to support solutions
Designed and tested innovative ideas
This prepares them to successfully complete their Senior Capstone Project, where they will:
Develop a polished solution
Create a data dashboard
Present to an authentic audience at the STEM Expo
