9th Grade Registration and Course Information 2026-2027
9th Grade Registration and Course Information 2026-2027
Dear 8th Grade Families,
As we prepare our 8th Grade students for high school, we want to provide important information about both 9th Grade High School Core & Elective Course registration for students planning to attend a Douglas County School System (DCSS) high school. Teachers will provide core class recommendations in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Literature to help ensure students are placed in courses that best support their success. The FMS 8th Grade Counselor will register all students for their currently designated high school based on enrollment records by February 27, 2026. If parents have questions or do not agree with a teacher’s recommendation, a Course Change Waiver form will be available below or may be obtained directly from your student’s designated high school (forms must be submitted to the high school).

Students are requesting electives, but placement in those courses is not guaranteed. Due to class availability, scheduling conflicts, and other factors, students may not be able to secure their first-choice electives.
Students should provide alternate elective choices in case their preferred selections are unavailable.
Students attending a Magnet Program will work with their Magnet Program Coordinator for scheduling and course registration, with the exception of AHS Magnet students (the FMS counselor will complete registration for these students).
Students attending a high school outside of DCSS must contact their chosen high school directly for 9th-grade registration.
Students will be registered for the high school in which they are currently zoned or enrolled within the district; permissive transfers must be completed and approved at the district level prior to registration (course selections will be forwarded to the designated school once approved by the DCSS School District/Board).
Students with an IEP will work with their PEC Coordinator for High School Registration.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the 8th-grade Counselor, Ms. El Amrani at sharrisse.elamrani@dcssga.org or 770-651-5335 or your student’s designated high school.
