I am a Douglas County native! I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I earned my Master's Degree in School Counseling at Mercer University. I traveled the world before returning back to Georgia where I am now so excited to be your counselor! When I'm not working, I like to spend time outside with my wife and our 2 sons. I am a huge soccer fan and enjoy being your DCHS Girls' Soccer Coach! Let's go Tigers!

I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from Georgia State University. I received my Master’s degree in School Counseling/Mental Health from Capella University. I received an additional Masters degree in Special Education with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. I have worked as a Special Education Teacher, School Counselor, School Behavioral Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor. I have also worked as a Therapist (Mental Health), school crisis response leader, Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) lead, Advanced Via Individual Determination (AVID) counselor, Response to Intervention (RTI) Behavioral Lead, Parent Education Instructor, and Physical Restraints and De-escalation trainer. I am a proud wife of a U.S Army Retired Veteran and mother to 6 wonderful adult children.

I am originally from East Tennessee but spent the last 23 years in Athens, Georgia. I recently moved to Carrollton to be with my partner who teaches at The University of West Georgia. I was a first generation high school and college graduate. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at Emory University and my master’s and specialist degrees in School Counseling at the University of Georgia. I am nationally certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors. I have one amazing daughter, who will soon be graduating from Georgia State University, and I’m a proud cat mom.
This year marks my 23nd year as a high school counselor and I’m excited to embark on a new journey at Douglas County High School! I am passionate about supporting students and advocating for opportunities. I am particularly interested in advocating for equity and access to historically underrepresented and marginalized groups, providing support and assistance to first generation college students, creating safe spaces for students who identify as LGBTQIA+, and supporting students who have experienced housing insecurity and/or homelessness.

My name is Temekia Cheely and I am your new school social worker. I would like to say that I am excited about working at Douglas County High School and serving as a support to each of you. A small introduction about myself is that I joined the Douglas County School System in 2022. I received my MSW degree from University of Central Florida and MJ degree in children's law and policy from Loyola University. I am a proud member of the School Social Workers Association of Georgia (SSWAG). I have served families and students for the last 16 years and I am excited to have the opportunity to continue supporting the students, families and staff of Douglas County.
